Man Arrested In Pleasant Valley For Assaulting Dog And Its Owner: Police
Police were called to investigate a verbal altercation.

PLEASANT VALLEY, NY — A Pleasant Valley man was arrested for hurting a dog and then injuring its owner. State Police said Thomas W. Lyons, 41, of Pleasant Valley was charged with second-degree assault and aggravated cruelty to animals, felonies.
Troopers were dispatched June 9 to the Pleasant Valley Motel for a reported harassment complaint.
Their investigation found that, following a verbal altercation between neighbors, Lyons allegedly punched a a Yorkshire Terrier named Chip in the chest several times and then threw the dog.

When Chip’s owner confront him, Lyons allegedly struck him in the face, chest, stomach and shoulder, causing injury, police said.

Chip suffered a broken rib.
Lyons was arraigned in the Village of Wappingers Falls Justice Court and sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail or $100,000 bond.
He is due to appear in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court June 20.
