Man Faces DWI Charge After Trying To Flee From Police
Police said he was traveling almost 30 mph over the speed limit.

RED HOOK, NY — A Red Hook man tried to get away from the police but was eventually arrested. State Police said Ryan C. Vogel, 22, of Red Hook was arrested Aug. 29 for drunk driving following a brief pursuit. Troopers observed a vehicle traveling on Route 9G in the Town of Red Hook at 83 mph in a 55 mph zone.
After activating the emergency lights to initiate a vehicle and traffic stop, the operator, later identified as Vogel, led the State Police on a brief chase down Rokeby Road to State Route 9 and finally ending on Colburn Drive. Vogel was placed under arrest for first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a felony, third-degree unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated, misdemeanors, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

He was issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Red Hook Justice Court for Sept. 28.
