Man Found Dead At Warming Center Identified By Authorities As 51-Year-Old Village Resident

ELLENVILLE, NY — Police have released the identity of the man who died at a warming center over the weekend.
The Ellenville Police Department responded to a call about an unconscious man at the warming center in the Hunt Memorial Building in the village, on Saturday, around 3 p.m. It was soon apparent that the man was dead.
The Ulster County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene, and the body was transferred to Health Alliance Hospital where a final determination of the cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.

"There is no indication of any foul play," Ellenville Police Chief Philip Mattracion said. "It appears from the investigation that the deceased suffered some sort of significant medical event while he was sleeping and passed away peacefully as a result."
After the family was notified, the man was identified as 51-year-old Lamont Frink, of Ellenville.

"The coordinators and staff who are running this shelter were fully cooperative, and obviously distraught about the incident," Chief Mattracion said.
Ellenville police were assisted at the scene by the New York State Police in Wawarsing and the Ellenville Rescue Squad.
