New Airline Coming To Stewart International
Frontier Airlines will help restore pre-coronavirus flight activity and create more travel choices from the mid-Hudson Valley.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — A new airline will soon be taking to the skies from New York Stewart International Airport in Orange County.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Tuesday new air service to three Florida cities via Frontier Airlines will be starting in the fall.
The addition of Frontier will help restore pre-coronavirus flight activity and create more travel choices for customers at the mid-Hudson Valley airport.

Cuomo said the state's airports are key parts of economic development and the new flights by Frontier are further proof that New York is open for business and building back better.
"The additional traffic to and from New York Stewart International Airport will greatly benefit the regional economy," he said, "while the flights give travelers from Florida another entry point into our beautiful state and all that it has to offer."

Frontier will be scheduling flights between Stewart and Miami International Airport and Tampa International Airport three times per week, starting Nov. 2. Flights between Stewart and Orlando International Airport four times a week starting Oct. 25.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus welcomed the airline to the county and said Frontier will not only benefit Orange County but the entire region.
"Frontier's new flight service to Florida will create new opportunities for tourism, business and economic development," he said.
This is Frontier's first time providing service to and from Stewart, according to the state.
It is currently offering flights out of LaGuardia and Newark Liberty International Airport.
Pre-pandemic, the airport generated $410 million in annual economic activity for the region. New service to Savannah, Ga., which began early this summer, is expanding Allegiant Air's network to five nonstop destinations, including Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Punta Gorda, Orlando-Sanford and Tampa in Florida.
The Port Authority, which runs the airport, has put a five-point strategic plan to position Stewart as a low-cost alternative for the metropolitan region.
The plan focuses on modernizing the air carrier incentive program, partnering with regional and state agencies, hiring an experienced marketing firm, developing a marketing strategy with Hudson Valley businesses and attractions and entering into an agreement with airport operator Future Stewart Partners.
