New Year's Day Suicide From Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge: Sheriff
Authorities said no criminal involvement is suspected.

RHINECLIFF, NY — A 29-year-old man from Red Hook apparently took his own life New Year's Day by jumping into the Hudson River from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. The Dutchess County Sheriff's Office said the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. Wednesday.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the bridge in response to a 911 call about a someone who had jumped over the side of the bridge into the river.
When they got there, deputies saw someone in the water close to the bridge. Witnesses were reporting that they saw a man park his car and then jump over the side.

The man's body was removed from the water with the assistance of the Ulster Hose Company fire boat.
Authorities said that, while the investigation is continuing, no criminal involvement is suspected and the death is believed to be a suicide.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County medical examiner, New York State Police, Town of Ulster Police, Ulster County Sheriff's Office, New York Bridge Authority, Rhinecliff Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics and Ulster Hose Company.
