Newburgh Woman Drives Drunk With 2 Kids In Car
Police said the children were not wearing seat belts either.
WAWAYANDA, NY — Stopping a car that was going the wrong way on the interstate led to a felony DWI charge for a Newburgh woman.
The New York State Police said troopers were sent shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday to investigate an SUV that was going the wrong way on Interstate 84 at Exit 1 in Orange County.
Authorities said the driver was traveling east in the westbound lane, and several near misses were called into 911.

Troopers said they stopped the car at Exit 15, which is the old exit 3.
The driver was identified as Rosalinda Lucero, 30, of Newburgh.

It was determined she was impaired by alcohol, police said, and she had two children, ages 5 and 8, who were not restrained with seat belts, in the car.
Lucero was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated, Leandra's Law, and felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, as well as second-degree reckless endangerment, a misdemeanor.
She was issued 10 vehicle and traffic law citations and an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wawayanda Court April 28.
