Orange County Employee Dies After Car Crash

The man was a public health technician for county's health department.

GOSHEN, NY — A public health technician for Orange County was killed as a result of a one-car crash Wednesday morning. County authorities said Tom Walter, 28, was in a county car when he crashed into a tree near State Route 17A and Durland Road in the Town of Goshen.

The incident happened around 9 a.m., a statement posted on the county's website said.

Walter had been a county employee since 2017.

Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhau said the county was saddened by Walsh's death and that his thoughts and prayers were with the man's family.

"Today's tragic accident shocked our community," he said. "Tom was a valued county employee and we mourn his passing."
