Orange County Man Shoots At Troopers: Police
Law enforcement was initially called to investigate a domestic dispute.
DEERPARK, NY — An Orange County man was taken into custody Sunday after being accused of shooting at law enforcement officers.
The New York State Police said troopers were sent to a home on Route 209 in the hamlet of Westbrookville for a report of a domestic dispute.
Police said the report indicated there was a man inside the home discharging a firearm.

Once at the location, police said they found that Patrick Hermanowski, 39, of Westbrookville, did have a firearm, but he fled into the woods.
He was hiding, according to authorities, in an abandoned Airstream trailer on Jagger Lane in Sullivan County.

As troopers approached the trailer, they said Hermanowski fired his weapon at them from inside.
Troopers returned fire before he left the trailer and was taken into custody.
First aid was provided by other members of the state police and Hermanowski was taken by ambulance to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Police said a loaded firearm was found at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation by the state police and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office.
No troopers were injured in the incident.
