Orange County Man Steals Tractors From Employer: Sheriff's Office

Authorities said he took tractors worth $40,000 from his boss.

GOSHEN, NY — An Orange County man was accused of stealing not one, but five tractors. The Orange County Sheriff's Office said investigators arrested Nelson Colon, 55, of Wallkill, and charged him with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.

The sheriff's office said, during a one-month period between June and July, Colon took five tractors from the Hudson River Tractor Company, which has a location in the Town of Goshen.

At the time of the thefts, he was employed by the company as a delivery driver, authorities said.

The five tractors are worth nearly $40,000 total.

Investigators said they recovered the stolen equipment after tracking them to the City of Middletown, the Hamlet of New Hampton and, with the assistance of the Mahwah Police Department, to the state of New Jersey.

Colon was arraigned and sent to the Orange County Jail with no bail.
