Pair Accused Of Having Illegal Handgun While On Thruway
The 17-year-old and 18-year-old are both facing two felony charges, police said.
CORNWALL, NY — A 17-year-old and an 18-year-old were accused of having a loaded automatic handgun while traveling on the Thruway.
The New York State Police said, around 8 p.m. Saturday, troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of Cornwall for a vehicle and traffic violation.
While talking to the driver, troopers found probable cause to search both the car and its occupants.

A load Norinco 1911A1 45 automatic handgun was found in the car, police said.
As a result, a 17- and an 18-year old were arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon-loaded firearm, other than in a person's home/business, and criminal possession of a firearm, felonies.

Police said the 18-year-old will reappear before the Town of Cornwall Court and the 17-year-old will reappear before the Orange County Probation Supervision Unit.
