Police ID Man Stabbed with Box Cutter in New Windsor ShopRite

Police said there is no known connection between the two men.

The name of the man stabbed while shopping at the ShopRite in New Windsor was released by the police Monday.

Michael Kohus, 35, whose family lives in Highland Falls was picking up groceries Saturday when, police said, Andrew Goodenough came up behind him and stabbed him with a box cutter in the neck, FIOS1News.com said. 

Kohus was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Goodenough was charged with second-degree murder, a felony, and is being held in jail, FIOS1 News said.

Neither the police nor the family are aware of any connection between Kohus and Goodenough, the Herald-Record said.

Police said Goodenough stayed in the store for 45 minutes, trying to blend in with the other shoppers, the Washington Post said. 

Surveillance footage helped identify Goodenough and New Windsor police and ShopRite officials located him in the crowed, the Post said.
