Police Release Disturbing New Details In Case Of 15-Year-Old Accused Of Violently Killing Elderly Neighbor
The 88-year-old woman's body was discovered outside of an abandoned home, according to Saugerties police.
SAUGERTIES, NY — Authorities have released the identity of the elderly woman who police say was violently killed by a teenage neighbor.
Police say that on June 7, between 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., a 15-year-old boy killed 88-year-old Elena Bonjolo, of Saugerties.

Saugerties police first became aware of a possible homicide when the teen was brought into the police station by family members. Officers then went to John Shults Road and found Bonjolo dead outside of an abandoned home.
After an investigation and examination, the cause of death was determined to blunt force trauma.

Bonjolo, who lived near the teen, was not related to him, but the two knew each other.
The teen, who is being treated as a juvenile offender, was arraigned early Monday morning by an accessible magistrate in Saugerties before being remanded to a secure facility, where he remains.
The Saugerties Police Department is being assisted by the New York State Police and the Ulster County District Attorney's Office.
Police say the homicide investigation is ongoing.
