Poughkeepsie OKs Bus Transfer To County
The common council was finally able to muster the votes to push the deal through.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The City of Poughkeepsie avoided paying the federal government a $1.6 million fine by a 5-3 Common Council vote Monday to transfer bus assets to Dutchess County. The county took over the city’s bus system five months ago, and the council was unable to muster the votes to OK the transfer.
Chris Petsas, D-1st Ward, Lorraine Johnson, 3rd Ward, and Randall Johnson II, 7th Ward, were the “no” votes, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
The county will pay $1 a year in the lease agreement.
