Poughkeepsie Pair Accused Of Home-Invasion Burglary
Police said the home was forcibly entered and a victim was injured.

DOVER, NY — A pair of Poughkeepsie residents have been accused of committing a home-invasion-style burglary.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said Justino Reyes, 38, and Kayla Brooks, 21, both of Poughkeepsie, have been charged with second-degree burglary, a felony.
Around 5:10 p.m. March 28, deputies responded to a home on Christiansen Lane in the Town of Dover for a reported burglary in progress.

The home was allegedly forcibly entered and someone inside was assaulted, police said.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspects had already left, but a suspect vehicle description was given out and a vehicle matching that description was stopped by deputies close to the scene.

The pair was arrested after an interview and investigation.
The victim suffered minor injury, and the motive for the burglary is still under investigation.
It is not believed to be random, police said.
Reyes and Brooks were arraigned in the Town of Dover Court.
Brooks was sent to the Dutchess County Jail on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond. Reyes was sent to jail with no bail.
The incident remains under investigation, and more charges could be forthcoming.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police.
