POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The White House has announced that President Joe Biden will visit the IBM facilities in Poughkeepsie during a trip to New York on Thursday.

While the exact timing of the trip has not been released, the New York State Police tweeted a traffic advisory Wednesday that said drivers in the Poughkeepsie area, particularly around the IBM facility, should expect heavy delays between 11 a.m. and late afternoon Thursday "due to a planned presidential visit."

Biden will speak about "creating jobs in the Hudson Valley, lowering costs, and ensuring the future is made in America" at the IBM campus, the White House said in a statement released on Tuesday.

IBM said that they are "deeply honored to host President Biden at our Poughkeepsie site" and they are looking "forward to highlighting our commitments to the innovations that advance America’s economy. The technology that IBM delivers today from Poughkeepsie will directly benefit from the recently-passed CHIPS Act. That measure also will help advance new breakthroughs critical to the site's role as the nation’s leading quantum computation center."

According to the White House public calendar, the president and First Lady Jill Biden will spend much of the day today in Florida. The President will survey storm-ravaged areas via helicopter en route to Fisherman's Wharf where he will receive an operational briefing by federal, local, and state officials on current response and recovery efforts, before meeting with Ian victims.
