Rendezvous With 15-Year-Old After Meeting On Snapchat Leads To NJ Man's Arrest On Sex Abuse Charges: NYSP

New York State Police say the sex crime involving a young girl took place at a home in Dutchess County.

TOWN OF RED HOOK, NY — An online meeting led to the sexual abuse of a young girl, according to police.

The New York State Police say that on Monday, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Rhinebeck was notified of a possible sex offense involving a child at a private home in the Town of Red Hook.

NYSP say that 20-year-old Joseph D. Hand, of West Milford, New Jersey, had sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl after the two met on Snapchat.

State police say Hand was arrested and charged with misdemeanor sexual misconduct, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Hand was arraigned in the Town of Red Hook Court and released under the supervision of probation. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim.

Hand is scheduled to return to the Town of Red Hook Court on July 23.
