Reward Offered For Info About German Shepherd's Death
Police said the body of the animal named Duke was found Sunday on the side of a road in Columbia County.

GALLATIN, NY — A reward is being offered for information about the death of a German shepherd dog in the Town of Gallatin. According to the state police, the New York State Humane Association, which is headquartered in Kingston, is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for fatally shooting and disposing of the dog.
The body of the approximately 2-year-old animal, who was named Duke, was found Sunday near the shoulder of Silvernails Road by a resident and reported to the dog warden officer.
The officer called the state police after seeing a bullet wound on the dog.

The animal's owners live about 6 miles south of the location where the body was discovered. The dog was known to run from the residence, police said.
