Rockland Walk to End Alzheimer's coming up on Oct. 20 in Pomona

Fundraising event to be held at Boulder Stadium

On Sunday, Oct. 20, people will gather at Boulder Stadium in Pomona for the Rockland Walk to End Alzheimer’s.

Registration for the walk starts at 9 a.m. with warm-up starting at 9:45 a.m. and the opening ceremony kicking off at 10 a.m.

There will be games on site as well as refreshments and live music by the Kings of Rock and Roll. Participants can also check out the exhibitor tables.

“The Rockland Walk to End Alzheimer’s gives individuals a platform to make a difference in the face of this relentless disease,” said Walk Manager Sue Bunce. “By raising money, they support programs and services that make a real difference in the lives of those coping with the disease. With the additional support of the business community, we hope to reach even more people and ultimately find a cure.”

Following the opening ceremony, walkers will set off on the route, which repeats two to three times around the inside (concourse level) perimeter of the stadium with the final lap on the field level warning track ending at the Promise Garden.

So far, more than 340 people are registered to participate, and nearly $63,000 has been raised to date, which is 41 percent of the event’s overall fundraising goal of $153,000. Fundraising will continue past the actual walk date, with donations accepted through Dec. 31. Those interested in registering or making a donation can do so at RocklandWalk.org.
