Sentencing In Stabbing Case

NEWBURGH, NY — A Newburgh man was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for stabbing a woman last June.
Miles Peterson, 26, had pleaded guilty to first-degree assault and admitted to stabbing the woman on Travis Lane many times, causing her to suffer serious physical injuries.
Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler thanked the Town of Newburgh Police Department for their work on the case.

“I hope that the state prison sentence that this defendant received serves as a deterrent for those
tempted to engage in violence in Orange County," Hoovler said. "The community will be safer during the nine years this defendant is in state prison."
