Snow Emergency Lifted in City of Poughkeepsie
Sidewalks and areas around fire hydrants must be cleared by residents and businesses.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The snow emergency has been lifted by the City of Poughkeepsie, effective 5 p.m. Thursday.
According to information on the city’s website, the following services will reopen or resume Friday, Feb. 10:
- City bus routes will run on a regular schedule.
- Sanitation and recycling collection will resume as scheduled for all Friday routes. Thursday routes will be collected on Monday, Feb. 13.
- City Hall will reopen at 8:30 a.m.
The city requires residents and business owners to clear sidewalks in front of and adjacent to their residences and businesses. Snow must not be placed into any roadway; that’s a violation of the city’s Code of Ordinances.

Snow should be removed from around any fire hydrant common to your home or property.
Under the Codes of the City of Poughkeepsie there is a responsibility of the owner/lessee of property fronting a hydrant to maintain the area clear around the hydrant. Failure to clear and keep clear a hydrant may result in a $100 fine or more.
