Speeding Leads To Drug Charges For Queens Man

After stopping the man, police said they found probable cause to search the vehicle.

CORNWALL, NY — A traffic stop for speeding led to illegal drug charges for a Queens man. State Police said a car being driven by Paul E. Bueno, 33, of Astoria, was stopped around 12:27 a.m. Feb. 27 on I-87 in the Town of Cornwall for going faster than the speed limit. While interviewing him, Troopers found probably cause to search the vehicle.

Police said they found about 3.64 grams of cocaine and 7.07 grams of alprazolam.

Bueno was taken into custody and charged with the following:

  • Three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony
  • Fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony
  • Seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor
  • Second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor
  • Multiple vehicle and traffic violations

Bueno was arraigned in the Town of Cornwall Court. No information about bail or a return court date was available.
