State Corrections Employee Accused Of Forgery, Theft

The woman is scheduled to appear in court May 31.

HUDSON, NY — A state corrections employee was arrested after she was accused of stealing money from her department. State police charged Maria C. Fey, 49, of Leyden, Lewis County, with third-degree grand larceny and 18 counts of second-degree forgery and first-degree falsifying business records, all felonies.

Police said the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision reported the possible forgery and theft of funds from a State Corrections bank account to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at SP Livingston May 14.

An investigation found that Fey, an employee of the department, stole more than $3,000 from accounts owned by the department, police said.

She was arraigned in the City of Hudson Court and released on her own recognizance.

Fey is next scheduled to appear before the court May 31.
