State To Open Public COVID-19 Testing Site At SUNY New Paltz

The location and information about hours and appointments will be announced soon.

NEW PALTZ, NY — New York State will open a state-run coronavirus community testing site on the SUNY New Paltz campus.

Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan announced the plan Wednesday.

He had requested a facility in Ulster County to bolster access to much-needed tests in the midst of the current surge in infections, county officials said.

The state-run site will complement the more than 50,000 free at-home rapid kits that the county has already distributed to residents throughout the county.

Ryan said he thanks Gov. Kathy Hochul for the quick response to his request.

"This site will help ensure that our residents have access to critically needed testing so we can keep our residents healthy," he said, "and continue to keep our schools and businesses open safely."

The SUNY New Paltz Community Testing Site is anticipated to open to the public sometime next week. Information regarding hours and appointments for the site will be announced soon.
