Staten Island Man Caught With Pound Of Pot: Police

Police said he was a passenger in a car that was stopped for vehicle and traffic violations.

PLATTEKILL, NY — State Police arrested a Staten Island man on a drug charge in the wake of a traffic stop. Police stopped a vehicle on I-87 in the Town of Plattekill, Ulster County, for a vehicle and traffic violation.

While talking to the driver, Troopers determined there was probable cause to search the vehicle and the people in it.

Antonio J. Rosa, 20, of Staten Island, a passenger in the car, was found to have more than 1 pound of marijuana, police said.

He was taken into custody and process at the Newburgh barracks.

Rosa was charged with second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony.

He was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court and sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $15,000 bond.

No information on a return court date was available.

The driver of the vehicle was issued tickets for several vehicle and traffic violations and was released.
