Stewart Airport Security Lapse Discovered
Among the problems was the inability to screen names against the no-fly list.
NEW WINDSOR, NY — Security experts said that hackers could have accessed computer servers used by Stewart International Airport in New Windsor and used the information to issue boarding passes.
Several major lapses in security have been revealed by documents that show the airport wasn’t able to screen names against a no-fly list, a baggage carousel key was left unsecured and there was unsupervised access to non-cleared contractors and visitors to restricted parts of the airport, according to an article by ZDNet.
Chris Vickery, the security expert who found the lapses, was able to download more than 300 gigabytes of data, including payroll files, emails and IDs of people with security clearance, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.
