Stewart International Airport Could See Name Change

The Port Authority could also vote on a $30 million expansion.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — A name change could be in the offing for Stewart International Airport in New Windsor. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey could approve the change as well as a $30 million expansion Thursday.

The proposed name is New York International at Steward Field, the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

The family of Archie Stewart — the Stewart in Stewart International Airport — is protesting the change, saying the state’s lease does not permit changing the name.
