Sullivan County Man Accused Of Strangulation
Police said the man also was illegally in possession of handguns.
LUMBERLAND, NY — A Sullivan County man was accused of strangling someone.
The New York State Police said Joshua K. Louis, 34, of Highland, was charged with second-degree strangulation and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.
Police said, shortly before noon Sunday, troopers were sent to a home in Lumberland to check out a report of a physical domestic incident.

The preliminary investigation found that Louis repeatedly struck and strangled someone until they had lost consciousness, police said.
The victim was taken to Garnet Medical Center for evaluation.

While speaking with Louis, troopers said they learned he left the home with two handguns and hid them in a bag in the woods. The weapons were recovered, police said.
Louis was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000 bail or $80,000 bond. A judge issued a stay-away order on behalf of the victim.
