Trooper, 2 Others Injured In Thruway Crash

The New York State Police reminds drivers to slow down and move over when emergency and construction vehicles are working on the highway.​

ULSTER, NY — Three people, including a New York State Police trooper, were injured in a crash on Interstate 87 in the town of Ulster Monday night.

The state police said the incident happened around 10:15 p.m.

Trooper James J. Adams was inside his patrol car investigating an unrelated crash in the area of the Kingston exit when a 2020 Mini Cooper driven by Katherine Pinedo, 33, of Albany, lost control of her vehicle while traveling in the left lane northbound and hit the troop car from behind, police said.

Adams, who is a seven-year veteran assigned to the Kingston barracks, was taken to Kingston Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Katherine Pinedo was not injured, but two of her passengers Erika Pinedo, 36, and Telmo Pinedo, 64, of Sunrise, Florida, received injuries that were not life-threatening. They were also taken to Kingston Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
