Unlicensed, Unbelted Driver Faces Drug Charges: Cops

State police say they pulled him over on I-84.

NEWBURGH, NY — State Police at Montgomery announce the arrest of Andrew I. Ocasio, 31, from Newburgh, NY on two counts of Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd, Class B Felony and 2 counts of Criminal Use Drug Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanor.

New York State Police conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on I-84 eastbound in the Town of Newburgh for upon seeing Ocasio not wearing his seat belt.

Police allege their probable cause search found Ocasio in possession of about 17 grams of cocaine, several plastic bags, 2 digital scales, and a glass smoking pipe containing marijuana residue.

Moreover, Ocasio was also driving with a non-driver ID only — and he was wanted by New Windsor police in regards to an active warrant for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd, Unclassified Misdemeanor.

Ocasio was arraigned in the Town of Newburgh Court by Town Justice Richard Clarino who sent him to Orange County Jail in lieu of $5000 cash or $5000 bond. Ocasio was ordered to return to Town of Newburgh Court Feb. 21.
