Upstate Man Falsely Claims Another Has Handgun: Police
Police said he called the false report into Dutchess County 911.
STANFORD, NY — An upstate man was accused of falsely claiming another person had a handgun.
The New York State Police arrested Kyle Ropeter, 21, of Wilton, Saratoga County, Friday and charged him with falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor.
Police said troopers were sent Dec. 13 to Bulls Head Road in the town of Sanford for a report of a person with a handgun displayed.

The investigation found Ropeter falsely reported the incident to Dutchess County 911.
He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Stanford Court Feb. 24.
