Vassar Bros. Medical Center To Limit Visitation
The move is due to an increase in the mid-Hudson Valley of new coronavirus cases.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Because of the rise in new coronavirus cases in Hudson Valley communities, Vassar Brothers Medical Center has limited visitation.
The move was done out of an abundance of caution and to safeguard the patients and staff, according to a news release Thursday.
Effective Friday, Nov. 6, no visitors will be permitted for any adult inpatients at Vassar Brothers Medical Center unless extenuating circumstances apply.

Extenuating circumstances include end-of-life situations or a support person being essential to the patient's care. See the Nuvance Health FAQ for more information.
"Together, we can reduce the chances of spreading COVID-19 throughout our communities," said Peter Kelly, president of Vassar Brothers Medical Center.

"Please continue to wear a mask in public, limit group gatherings with non-household members, wash your hands frequently throughout the day and stay home if you're not feeling well," he said.
As of Tuesday, which is the most up-to-date numbers from Dutchess County's coronavirus dashboard, there have been 5,642 confirmed cases of the virus, with 212 active cases. The active cases are up 20 from Monday. There have been 166 fatalities in the county since the pandemic began. The county has a 2.2 percent seven-day rolling average of positive rates.
