Wappinger Town Board Mulling Eliminating Elected Highway Superintendent Position

Allegations of harassment have surfaced in the highway department.

WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY — The Town of Wappinger is grappling with whether to eliminate the elected highway superintendent position in an effort to restructure the department.

Two complaints—one by a former deputy supervisor alleging racial harassment from co-workers and from an employee one alleging harassment from Highway Superintendent Vincent Bettina—have been filed this year, according to an article at Hudson Valley News Network.

The town board met Monday to consider restructuring and to hear public comment.
