Woman Follows GPS Into Neversink River

She was unfamiliar with the area in Port Jervis.

PORT JERVIS, NY — A Middletown woman is fortunate that first responders were able to rescue her quickly after she ended up in the Neversink River Sunday because she was following the instructions on her GPS. The 30-year-old was behind the Port Jervis Fire Training Center when her new 2017 vehicle slid down a muddy river bank and into the river.

She couldn’t get out of the car and called 911, the Daily Freeman said.

Rescuers made their way down river to the car, and the woman was helped up the bank by a rope team.
