Wrong-Way Driver Charged With DWI

Authorities said he almost struck a state police vehicle.

LIBERTY, NY — State police arrested a South Fallsburg man for drunken driving and driving the wrong way. Police charged Jendris Padilla, 38, of South Fallsburg, with driving while intoxicated.

Police said Padilla was seen traveling in the wrong direction on State Route 17 near Exit 102 in Sullivan County, almost striking a state police vehicle.

He was stopped for the traffic offense, and during the interview, police said they detected the odor of alcohol on his breath.

Padilla failed a sobriety test and was arrested.

After processing, he was released to a third party and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Thompson at a later date.
