Wurts Street Bridge To Close For Maintenance

Motorists are advised to utilize the Route 9W bridge as a detour.

KINGSTON, NY — The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the Wurts Street Bridge, connecting the city of Kingston and the hamlet of Port Ewen in Ulster County, will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning Friday, Jan. 26, while crews perform maintenance operations, weather permitting.

The closure will remain in effect until all necessary maintenance has been completed.

The bridge will be closed between Abeel Street in the city of Kingston and Connelly Road in the hamlet of Port Ewen, Ulster County.

Motorists are advised to utilize the Route 9W bridge as a detour.

Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
