Woman Fatally Jumps From Midtown Building, Police Say

The unidentified woman was found dead on East 50th Street around 9:20 a.m. Monday morning, police said.

MIDTOWN EAST, NEW YORK — A 71-year-old woman fatally jumped from a Midtown Manhattan building, according to police.

The unidentified woman was found dead outside 333 E. 50th St. — home to the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Latvia — around 9:20 a.m. Monday, said police. An employee from the Latvian embassy told Patch that the woman did not jump from their building, but from a building across the street. An NYPD spokesman told Patch that the address from the initial crime report may be wrong, but did not have an updated address.

It was not immediately clear how many stories the woman had fallen, said police.
