Penn Station Summer Construction Schedule, Train Cancellations Announced

Amtrak has announced when summer infrastructure repairs will take place, and a preliminary train schedule.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Penn Station commuters have been warned for weeks about the "summer from hell," but haven't heard much in the way of actual information. On Tuesday, Amtrak — which owns and operates Penn Station — announced its preliminary schedule for a massive summer infrastructure repair initiative.

Amtrak will be repairing tracks, signals and switches from July 10 to Sept. 1, which will required daily work and a modified train schedule. During the repairs regional trains will be canceled on a number of routes, and long-distance trains to New Orleans will run out of Washington D.C. rather than New York.
