Chris Brown and Kristii Strike “Lightening ” Together on Hot New R&B Pop Single

Chris Brown and Kristii are sparking dance floors and radio with a bolt of titillating energy this summer in “Lightening,” their blazing new single that mixes rap with R&B pop. Kristii, the young singer often likened to Cascada, yet who is now shedding her EDM skin for a more pop sound that is sure to appeal to teen listeners, wrote the song. She drew inspiration for it while on the set of a recent photoshoot. “They had me in a corset and I never felt so feminine and sexy,” she explains. “It got me to thinking how corsets are about the most empowering clothing a woman can wear.” That strength is echoed in the vocals on “Lightening” that showcase commanding pipes from both Chris Brown and Kristii. The duo share a similar tone and key that compliment one another and combine to create a dope, spontaneous sound that is spirited yet erotic. “Lightening” featuring Chris Brown and Kristii is available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon as well all other online retail outlets. The song was recorded on opposite sides of the world. “I remember when Chris called me from the music studio in LA where he was laying down his vocals,” Kristii recalls. “I was in Vienna at the time, with a ten hour time difference so it was like 5am Austria time. I was barely awake and part of me thought I was dreaming but I must have listened to him sing and given my feedback because two days later, we got the full session from Chris and it was everything I imagined it would be and more! I laid my vocals over his and I worked hard to match his awesomeness.”

“Lightening” is produced by Adonis Shropshire, a Grammy Winning producer and noted songwriter who regularly works with Brown, as well as P.Diddy, JLo, Usher, and Beyonce.

Kristii counts Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston as her my main inspirations: Jackson for his dancing, Houston for her singing. However, she makes it clear that she doesn’t measure her artistry to theirs. Kristii says she has never wanted to be like anyone except herself and her most important goal in life is showing the world what she can do.

She is best known in the states for her hit club single, “Recovery”. The song climbed to the number 8 position on the Billboard dance radio chart in January. “Recovery was inspired by the breakup of my first real love,” she explains. Kristii wrote all the lyrics; a feat she takes especial pride in because it’s the first time she has written all the text of a track by herself. The music was written by Cheyenne Laverne. “I can't say I´m totally recovered from the split yet,” she admits. “Maybe I never will be? Time will tell.”

In the meantime, Kristii is excited to join Chris Brown on tour this spring to promote “Lightening”. The Chris Brown USA Tour launches May 20 and Kristii will join him on stage in various cities including Los Angeles, New York and San Diego.
