Here's How Much Money Poured Into Midtown Elections
Patch has compiled a list of how much money each candidate on the ballot in Midtown and Hell's Kitchen raised and spent in their races.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Candidates who appeared on the ballot in Midtown and Hell's Kitchen raised and spent plenty of dough in the weeks and months leading up to Election Day.
Using the latest publicly available data from the New York State Board of Elections and the Federal Election Commission, Patch compiled a list of how much money each candidate raised — and spent — leading up to the 2020 Election.
Totals are from 2019 and 2020 and have been rounded down to the closest whole number.

10th Congressional District
Incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Jerry Nadler vastly outraised his two opponents in Tuesday's general election in New York's 10th District, which covers Hell's Kitchen and much of the West Side of Manhattan.
Nadler, who has served in Congress since 1992 and chairs the House Judiciary Committee, defeated Republican Cathy Bernstein and Libertarian candidate Michael Madrid on Election Night to secure another term.

Jerry Nadler:
- Total raised: $1.7 million
- Total spent: $1.8 million
Cathy Bernstein:
- Total raised: $49,900
- Total spent: $28,300
Michael Madrid:
- Total raised: $13,700
- Total spent: $8,600
12th Congressional District
In New York's 12th District, which covers Central Midtown and Midtown East, incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney raised more than $2.8 million and spent about the same amount, while her two general election opponents raised and spent no money whatsoever.
Maloney defeated Republican Carlos Santiago-Cano and Libertarian Steven Kolln on Tuesday to secure another term.
Much of Maloney's fundraising was likely targeted at her more competitive June primary race against Suraj Patel, in which she prevailed after weeks of ballot counting.

27th State Senate District
Incumbent Democratic State Sen. Brad Hoylman was unopposed in his bid for another term representing Midtown, Hell's Kitchen and Greenwich Village in Albany — but that didn't stop him from fundraising.
Hoylman, who is also running for Manhattan Borough President next year, raised more than $400,000 in the current election cycle.

28th State Senate District
Further east, incumbent Democrat Liz Krueger vastly outraised Republican challenger Michael Zumbluskas in the race for the 28th District, which covers Midtown East as well as Murray Hill, the Upper East Side and Gramercy.
Krueger prevailed on election night with about 74 percent of the vote, before absentee ballots have been counted.

Michael Zumbluskas:

75th Assembly District
Longtime incumbent Democratic Assemblymember Richard "Dick" Gottfried was unopposed in his bid for yet another term in Albany, but still raised more than $120,000 in the current election cycle.
Gottfried, whose 75th District covers parts of Central Midtown and Hell's Kitchen below 42nd Street, has served in the State Assembly since 1971.

73rd Assembly District
In the 73rd District, which covers the western part of the neighborhood and parts of Midtown east, incumbent Democrat Dan Quart was re-elected over Republican challenger Judith Graham, winning about 70 percent of the in-person vote to Graham's 30 percent.
Quart vastly outraised Graham, although he, in turn, was outraised by Cameron Koffman, Quart's opponent in this summer's Democratic primary, who raised more than $515,000 and spent over $433,900 in his unsuccessful bid to unseat Quart.
