Mediterranean Chain CAVA To Open New Midtown Location

The fast casual Mediterranean chain will open its fifth New York City location on West 38th Street and Broadway.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — The popular Mediterranean fast casual chain CAVA announced plans to open its fifth New York City location in Midtown Manhattan.

The Washington D.C.-based restaurant will open its newest location on Broadway and West 38th Street on Tuesday, Oct. 2, a spokesperson for the chain said. The first 150 customers at the new location will receive a free meal. Customers can begin lining up at 10:45 a.m., a spokesperson said.

Like many other fast casual restaurants, the dining experience at CAVA is highly customizable. Customers choose from a base of greens, grains or both and add on dips and spreads, proteins, dressings and toppings such as hummus, eggplant and red pepper dip, falafel, grilled chicken, roasted vegetables and feta cheese.

The Broadway and West 38th Street location will serve CAVA's seasonal fall menu, which features items such as Brussels sprouts, butternut squash, and cauliflower.

The new location will be quite large at 2,400 square feet, according to a company spokesperson. Other CAVA locations across New York City include a recently-opened restaurant near Bryant Park and locations in SoHo, Union Square and Rye Ridge, Brooklyn.

CAVA was founded by three childhood friends Ike Grigoropoulos, Chef Dimitri Moshovitis and Ted Xenohristos, according to the company's website. The three founders are first-generation Greek-Americans who "wanted to bring the authentic Mediterranean flavors and experiences of their Greek upbringing to a wider audience in a modern, accessible format," the website reads.

The chain's original location is based in Rockville, Maryland. The company now operates more than 60 locations in states such as California, Texas, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
