Military Jets To Fly Over Hudson River Thursday Morning
Two McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet aircraft will fly at 2,500-3,000 feet along the Hudson River.

NEW YORK, NY — Two military jets will fly over the Hudson River at low altitudes Thursday morning, police told Patch.
The Navy McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet aircraft — twin-engine fighter jets nicknamed the "superhornet" — will begin to fly over the river around 11 a.m., police told Patch. The jets will fly up to the Tappan Zee Bridge and then back down to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. For the duration of the flyover the jets will fly at at altitudes between 2,500 and 3,000 feet, police told Patch.
It is unknown how long the flyover will last.

A mysterious December flyover of Midtown Manhattan caused a stir last year when New Yorkers noticed military aircraft hovering at low altitudes. At the time, the Air National Guard insisted the flyover was "routine training flight," CBS news radio reporter, but Alex Silverman said a government source told him the military aircrafts were "involved in a Secret Service protective operation... coordinated with the FAA."
