Moped Man Injured As Midtown Car Thief Flees Police: NYPD
The man was injured after the stolen car smashed into an empty police cruiser that then smashed into him, according to officials.

MIDTOWN, NY — A Newark man was arrested after his attempt to flee a traffic stop injured an innocent man on a moped Monday night, police said.
Ishmill Fate, 21, was arrested and charged with grand larceny auto, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle and a long list of other charges related to his attempted getaway, officials said.
Police officers noticed a Range Rover that had just been reported stolen and attempted to pull the car over on West 36th Street near Ninth Avenue about 11:15p.m., officials said.

Fate attempted to drive off but quickly crashed into an empty and parked police car, which then struck a 34-year-old man riding a scooter, according to the NYPD.
The injured man suffered a leg injury and was brought to a nearby hospital in stable condition, officials said.

While Fate was arrested, an unknown female passenger fled the vehicle and is still at large, police said.
According to a 2020 news report, Fate has also been arrested in New Jersey for boosting luxury vehicles.
