MTA To Shut Down Manhattan, Queens N/Q/R/W Stations For Repairs

There will be no N, Q, R, W service between Manhattan and Queens, and train lines will re re-routed between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

NEW YORK, NY — The MTA is launching FASTRACK repair work on the N, Q, R and W subway lines, which will result in overnight service shutdowns from Nov. 6-10 and again from Nov. 13-17. Starting at 10 p.m. during the repair period service between Manhattan and Queens will be shut down and several stations in Manhattan will be closed.

During the repair periods an "army of maintenance workers" will complete tasks such as replacing of track, third rail, electrical and signal components, debris removal, repairing tunnel infrastructure, painting, platform work and repairing signage, lighting fixtures and ADA components, the MTA announced.

"The unfettered track access of FASTRACK enables us to advance Subway Action Plan goals and minimize customer impact by allowing workers to do more in less time,” MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota said in a statement. "We are on an urgent path to stabilizing and modernizing the subway system and intensive overnight work will help us get there."
