NJ Transit Train Breaks Down In Hudson River Tunnel
About 200 people were on the train when it became disabled Wednesday afternoon en route to Penn Station.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — About 200 people were stuck on a disabled New Jersey Transit train for nearly an hour Wednesday when it broke down in a tunnel underneath the Hudson River, a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said.
The train was traveling from Raritan, New Jersey, to Penn Station when it got stuck in the tunnel around 12:45 p.m., a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said. A rescue train was sent from Penn Station to haul the disabled train into New York, the spokeswoman said.
The disabled train's lights and heat were operational while it sat in the tunnel, a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said. The rescue train arrived around 1:25 p.m. and was coupled to the broken down train, the spokeswoman said.

Nobody was injured during the rescue, a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said.
The breakdown is not expected to cause and delays on the Raritan Valley line or any other New Jersey Transit lines during the Wednesday evening rush hour, a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman said.
