MIDTOWN, NY — Police are searching for a suspect after a man performed a "lewd act" on a subway in Midtown in front of a woman on Memorial Day, New York City Police Department officials said.

According to the NYPD, the 42-year-old woman was on board a Manhattan-bound E train approaching the Seventh Avenue station at 7:30 a.m. when the man approached her and performed the act.

Then, the man left the station and ran away, police said.
