Shake Shack's Danny Meyer to Bring Restaurant to Bryant Park

The casual restaurant will serve soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries to those enjoying the park during the holiday months.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Danny Meyer is set to open a new restaurant and catering venue connected to Bryant Park's seasonal ice-skating rink, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group signed a deal for the restaurant to be open from late October to early March, correlating with the ice-skating rink, for the next four years.

“It’s a magical location during the holidays,” Ron Parker, Union Square Hospitality’s chief growth officer, told the Journal.

The casual restaurant, called Public Fare, will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, and wine, cocktails and to-go fare, The Wall Street Journal reports. The menu is still being finalized, but diners can expect soups, salads, sandwiches and pastries. Prices will be in line with Shake Shack, at under $20 for lunch and under $30 for dinner.

Public Fare's goal is to offer "simple, straightforward" food that locals and tourists will enjoy, John Karangis, an executive chef with Union Square Hospitality, told The Wall Street Journal.

Meyer started out in the New York fine-dining scene, particularly with his restaurant Union Square Cafe, but he might be the best known for founding Shake Shack in 2004.
