7 Arrested During Inauguration Protest In Front Of Trump Tower: Police
Members of the City Council and others protesting in front of Trump Tower in Midtown were arrested Friday.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Police arrest seven protesters blocking traffic in front of Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
The protest to resist new President Donald Trump on his first day assuming the presidency was organized by City Councilmen Jumaane Williams, Carlos Menchaca and Sate Sen. Marisol Alcantara. Police could not confirm specific details about the people arrested Friday, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
Eyewitness reports from the scene of the protest show some of the politicians being arrested. City Councilman Williams posted a photo of him and Alcantara in handcuffs.

According to witnesses the arrests were conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.

An NYPD spokesman could not confirm with Patch how many people were arrested.
