Watch: Protesters Call On Fox News To Fire Bill O'Reilly At Midtown Headquarters

The protest group also commissioned a plane to fly around New York City with a banner demanding Fox News to drop O'Reilly.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Protesters occupied a plaza in front of Newscorp's Midtown Manhattan headquarters Tuesday afternoon to call on the media conglomerate — which operates the Fox News channel — to fire Bill O'Reilly.

The protest was organized by UltraViolet — a group that describes itself as "mobilized to fight sexism and expand women’s rights — and featured speakers such as NYC Public Advocate Letitia James, UltraViolet members and survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Protesters shouted "fire Bill O'Reilly," "shame on Fox," and "lock him up" and held signs calling on Fox News to fire O'Reilly in light of reports that the station has paid out millions to women accusing the news anchor of sexual harassment. UltraViolet also commissioned a plane to fly around New York with a banner reading "#DropOReilly, the sexual predator," according to New York Times reporter Emily Steel, who helped break the news about O'Reilly's accusers.

On Wednesday, New York magazine reported that the news station's most-watched anchor was going to be fired. Anonymous sources told New York that the owners of Newscorp, Rupert Murdoch and his sons Lachlan and James, are "are preparing to announce O’Reilly’s departure before he returns from an Italian vacation on April 24." The move to cut ties with O'Reilly was reportedly being pushed by the Murdoch sons and had been initially opposed by Rupert Murdoch, New York reported.

O'Reilly has taken a "vacation" from his show in light of reports that Fox News has paid out millions to women who have accused him of sexual harassment. On April 1 the New York Times reported that Fox News has paid out as much as $13 million to five different women. The settlement deals were essentially "hush money" as the women agreed not to sue the company or speak publicly about their accusations as part of the settlements, the Times reported.
