UES Bar Shuttered By Health Department, Records Show

The bar was ordered closed after inspectors found multiple food-safety hazards.

UPPER EAST SIDE, NY — City officials have ordered a neighborhood pub on Third Avenue and East 67th Street to close for racking up 45 violation points during a health inspection, records published Wednesday show.

Bedford Falls, a bar and restaurant located at 206 East 67th St., was ordered to close on Aug. 17 after inspectors reported evidence of mice, improper food-temperature controls, and other food-safety hazards, according to publicly available city records.

On Jan. 6, Bedford Falls was also issued 22 health code violations, including one for evidence of mice, according to the health department.

Here's the full list of Bedford Falls' violations from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene:

    • Evidence of mice or live mice in establishment's food or non-food areas.
    • Insufficient or no hot holding, cold storage or cold holding equipment provided to maintain Time/Temperature Control for Safety Foods (TCS) at required temperatures
    • Food contact surface not properly washed, rinsed and sanitized after each use and following any activity when contamination may have occurred.
    • Establishment is not free of harborage or conditions conducive to rodents, insects or other pests.
    • Nuisance created or allowed to exist. Facility not free from unsafe, hazardous, offensive or annoying condition.

    The bar will need to correct the violations before it can reopen.
