Woman Badly Injured In Crash On Midtown Sidewalk

An elderly woman was in critical condition after she was hit by a driver pulling out of the Time Warner Center garage, police said.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — An elderly woman was left in critical condition Saturday when a driver pulling out of a parking garage hit her with his car as she walked along a sidewalk, police said.

Around 2:10 p.m. Saturday, the 73-year-old woman was walking on West 58th Street in front of the Time Warner Center as a man drove his Honda sedan out of the building's parking garage, between Eighth and Ninth avenues.

The man struck the woman in the middle of the block, causing her severe head and leg trauma, police said. She was brought to St. Luke's Hospital in critical condition.

Police had no updates as to the woman's condition Monday morning.

The driver stayed at the scene and no criminality is suspected, police said, but an investigation is ongoing.

Since 2017, at least six pedestrians have been injured in crashes on West 58th Street between Eighth and Ninth avenues, according to the city's Vision Zero data.
